FULL DISCLOSURE: My expectations were pretty low.
STORY STUFF: It was a fine popcorn movie. Lots of poor decision making on the characters’ part. They also need to move a little faster at times. Of course, a family is added to the adventure so we can worry about the children. I’m thinking people aren’t too worried about mercenaries and scientists. The death order was pretty predictable, as was a number of other elements. If you don’t think too much about things like a very convenient temple, it is still an enjoyable summer flick. Good thing is you don’t have to watch any of the previous Jurassic Worlds to understand what’s going on, well maybe the fact that there is a sick dinosaur in New York.
ACTING STUFF: You can tell that Scarlett is so happy to be a part of this. The acting from everyone is just okay. It took me awhile to realize that the dad, played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, is the Lincoln Lawyer.
ARTISTIC STUFF: A beautiful location for dinosaurs. Love the tropics. The water scenes are done well and most of it looks really sharp until the last quarter when they are at the abandoned base. Even though he didn’t do the full score, it is sure nice to hear John Williams’ Jurassic Park theme woven in.
VERDICT:
Three stars out of five
SEE IT IF:
You like dinosaurs.
