Breaking Bad Finale

So this is it for Breaking Bad. It’s pretty safe to say that this is the best series on television right now. Everything just works so well. Kudos to Vince Gilligan and the writers for ending with a bang. Anyway, I thought I should look back and reflect on what made this show so awesome.

FIVE THINGS I’LL MISS ABOUT BREAKING BAD

1 The Jaw-Dropping Moments
Some television shows have a jaw dropping moment here or there (Game of Thrones comes to mind) but Breaking Bad is the only one to do this on a daily basis. My jaw has literally dropped open and I have literally been on the edge of my seat. The show is that good.
2 The Dialogue
Most episodes have a stellar monologue or  great piece of dialogue that make the show memorable. The hysterical scene of Jesse having dinner with the Whites will forever be etched in my brain. I’ve included some other favourites below.
3 Rooting For The Villain
Like Dexter, I find it interesting that I often want Walt to get away with his despicable actions. I don’t think I’m the only one.
4 Intriguing Teasers
This show did a great job of using the space before the title sequence. I keep thinking of season two and the slow episode by episode reveal of a future catastrophe.
5 Jesse’s Favourite Word
Jesse loves using the word “bitch”. It’s his thing. It makes me giggle a little every time he uses it

FIVE FAVOURITE EPISODES

1 Ozymandias
(Season 5 Episode 14)
After the gunfire of the previous episode, Walt is responsible for the death of a relative, the torture of Jesse and the reaking up of his family, forcing him to flee. Wow.

2 Dead Freight
(Season 5 Episode 5)
A classic train robbery with loads of nail-biting moments and a slighting shocking ending at the hands of Todd.

3 Face Off
(Season 4 Episode 13)
Gus, one of the best Breaking Bad characters, is in a showdown with Walt. The conclusion of the showdown is classic.

4 One Minute
(Season 3 Episode 7)
Hank is losing it and confronts Jesse. The one minute in question is edge of your seat fantastic-ness.

5 Grilled
(Season 2 Episode 2)
Walt and Jesse are being held captive by Tuco. Hank is closing in on Heisenberg as Marie tries to comfort Skyler over Walt’s disappearance. Some intense stuff.

FIVE FAVOURITE QUOTES
1
from Cornered (Season 4 Episode 6)
Walt:
You clearly don’t know who you’re talking to, so let me clue you in. I’m not in danger, Skyler. I am the danger. A guy opens his door and gets shot, and you think that of me? No! I am the one who knocks!
2
from Live Free or Die (Season 5 Episode 1)
Jesse:
Yeah, bitch! Magnets!
3
from Hazard Pay (Season 5 Episode 3)
Mike:
Just because you shot Jesse James, don’t make you Jesse James.
4
from No Mas (Season 3 Episode 1)
Saul:
If you’re committed enough, you can make any story work. I once told a woman I was Kevin Costner, and it worked because I believed it.
5
from Blood Money (Season 5 Episode 14)
Walt:
If that’s true – if you don’t know who I am –then maybe your best course is to tread lightly.

Enjoy the finale.
