FIVE OBSERVATIONS:
1 This movie was fun. After Inception, it’s nice to watch a film that you don’t have to concentrate and dissect. In the middle somewhere I stopped questioning Cameron Diaz’s insane thought process and just went along for the ride.
2 Tom Cruise’s charm carries this film. It looks like he’s having a lot fun which is fun to watch. I’m glad Cruise and the film didn’t take itself to seriously. He should take on more roles like this – a little unhinged but skilled.
3 Lots of drugging going on in this film. It was entertaining to bypass a bunch of the travel time with a dazed Diaz’s blurry visions. Way to save money on skydiving.
4 The bad guys were boring. I hate boring bad guys. What a waste of Peter Sarsgaard’s talents.
5 Paul Dano’s facial hair was creepy.
RECOMMENDATION: Wait for DVD

So far I've thoroughly enjoyed your reviews. You seem to be an expert on film so I turn to you for advice, should one watch 'Manhunter' before watching 'The Silence of the Lambs'? Or will I be able to follow the story either way?
Silence of the Lambs is a classic. No need to watch Manhunter first. Anthony Hopkins does a far better job as Hannibal Lecter than Brian Cox anyway. Red Dragon has the same plot as Manhunter but casts Hopkins instead. I'd recommend that one instead for continuity. I'd watch Silence of the Lambs first, then watch Red Dragon for the backstory, then Hannibal if you want the subpar sequel to Lambs. Hope that helps.
