Film: Dinner for Schmucks

GENRE:
Comedy

RATING: PG-13 for sexual content and language

RUNTIME: 1 hour and 54 minutes

STARRING: Steve Carell (40 Year Old Virgin)

Paul Rudd (40 Year Old Virgin, I Love You Man)

DIRECTOR: Jay Roach (Meet the Parents)

WRITERS: David Guion & David Handelman(The Ex)

PLOT: In order to get a promotion, Tim needs to bring an idiot to a dinner where he will be made fun of.

FIVE OBSERVATIONS:

1 I can handle uncomfortable moments, but it sometimes gets to be too much. The same thing happens during Meet the Parents for me. If only the protagonist would just explain themselves faster instead of digging a bigger hole.

2 Jermaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) steals the show as a egomaniacal artist who is both funny and insanely creepy at the same time. I loved his face touching.

3 The mouseterpieces are a tad creepy but wonderfully crafted. You can tell a lot of work was put into these things.

4 The other dinner guests are pretty humourous. Really enjoyed Chris O’Dowd’s blind fencer. Would have loved to see more from Rick Overton, the Beard Champion

5 I like Zach Galifianakis when he’s more accidentally funny. He was trying to hard to be weird in this one. Looking forward to his upcoming Due Date though.

RECOMMENDATION: Wait for TBS
