Film: The Hundred-Foot Journey

GENRE: Drama/Romance
RATING: PG for some violence and language
RUNTIME: 2 hours and 2 minutes
STARRING: Helen Mirren (The Queen, RED, Hitchcock)
Om Puri (Ghandi), Manish Dayal (90210)
DIRECTOR: Lasse Hallstrom  (Chocolat, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape)
WRITER: Steven Knight (Amazing Grace, Eastern Promises)
PLOT: Two opposing restaurants across the street from each other manage to help a young chef follow his dream and get the girl.

FIVE OBSERVATIONS:
1 It was a good movie, but the third act seemed unnecessary. But I guess that’s the novel’s fault. They had a great ending point a lot earlier.
2 I was hoping for more fun with the restaurants battling each other.
3 After seeing the movie, I kind of want to get some Indian Food. Maybe a good date idea: early showing followed by some great food at My Shanti.
4 There’s a scene that’s very reminiscent of Ratatouille.
5 Om Puri has a very large nose.

RECOMMENDATION: Wait for Netflix
UPCOMING REVIEWS: Emmy predictions, Sin City 2
