2016 Emmy Wrap-Up

I got 15 out of 22 categories. Not too bad. There were a couple nice surprises that I didn’t predict like Tatiana Maslany winning for Orphan Black or Master of None for writing. Anyway, here are some of my thoughts.

FIVE OBSERVATIONS:
1 Jimmy Kimmel had a fun opening and some great bits throughout the night. His comment about Johnny Cochrane watching from hell went too far though.
2 Loved the first lines of Rami Malek’s speech, "Please tell me you are seeing this too." (Which makes more sense if you watch Mr. Robot)
3 I agree with Kimmel’s proposal that absentee winners shouldn’t get their awards. And then got the opportunity to follow through with it.
4 Would have liked to have seen more clips accompanying the change of categories. Things seemed a little rushed.
5 Lead actresses got the shaft. All the male nominees got mini clip packages for their shows, the lead actresses had to look pretty sitting in their seats. The exception was the drama leads where the men got to say dramatic lines and the women were quickly shuffled through. Sure this program was racially diverse but it seemed awfully sexist.
