Emmy Awards 2013 Results

Another year of only getting 6 out of 16 categories.  You’d think I could predict better with all the television I watch. Them Emmy voters are crazy. Anyway, here are some of my thoughts.

FIVE OBSERVATIONS:

1 I think NPH said it best, “No one in America is winning their office Emmy pool.” Last year, I made some silly mistakes but this year, no one could have predicted some of the winners. Jeff Daniels beating Bryan Cranston and Kevin Spacey? Merrit Wever and Tony Hale winning. And wouldn’t you know it, the first time I don’t predict The Colbert Report and they beat out The Daily Show. What gives? At least Entertainment Weekly did as sucky as me.
2 Neil Patrick Harris did a pretty good job, not Tonys good, but still. I enjoyed his mid-award song and the opening banter with previous hosts. Let him host the Oscars.
3 Best speeches of the night were Merrit Wever’s short but sweet thank you and Julia Louis-Dreyfus having Tony Hale back her up like he does on Veep. Good stuff.
4 Didn’t know why we needed Elton John and Carrie Underwood singing songs. I’d rather see longer clip packages of the nominees.
5 I thought the memorium tributes were well done, but felt that someone like Larry Hagman deserved one more than Cory Monteith.
