SERIES: Breaking Bad (Season 4)
WHERE: Sundays, 7pm (AMC)
EPISODES: 6 in (5 to go)
GENERAL PLOT: A chemistry teacher with cancer decides to go into the drug trade making crystal meth in order to provide for his family
CURRENT SEASON: Walt is becoming more dangerous as his wife starts helping him. Also Walt’s new boss is in a drug war that is escalating.
MY THOUGHTS:It has been a pretty strong season so far, Pinkman is fun to watch again. Gus is pretty scary but I want to see more of him. Looking forward to the drug war.
SERIES: True Blood (Season 4)
WHERE: Sundays, 8pm (HBO)
EPISODES: 9 in (3 to go)
GENERAL PLOT: Vampires are out and about in Bon Temps, but not everyone is a fan.
CURRENT SEASON: A witch’s coven makes life difficult for the vampires who just want to belong.
MY THOUGHTS: This season has been a little uneven. I have enjoyed Eric’s storyline the most. But I also like seeing Bill in this new light, not to mention Jason and Jessica. Lafayette’s story and Sam’s have been annoying, as well as the cursed baby. The creepy witches work though.
SERIES: Curb Your Enthusiasm (Season 8)
WHERE: Sundays, 9:30pm (HBO)
EPISODES: 7 in (3 to go)
GENERAL PLOT: Larry David is annoyed by many things much like George on Seinfeld, but louder.
CURRENT SEASON: Larry goes to New York to avoid a children’s charity function.
MY THOUGHTS: Things have been pretty funny with all the guest stars. Ricky Gervais was quite funny but I’m looking forward to the fight with Michael J Fox.
SERIES: Entourage (Season 8)
WHERE: Sundays, 9pm (HBO)
EPISODES: 5 in (3 to go)
GENERAL PLOT: Vince Chase tries to maintain his movie star status with the help of his friends and agent.
CURRENT SEASON: Vince is out of rehab and trying to help his brother Drama and friend Turtle make it big.
MY THOUGHTS: This season is a little too short to wrap everything up. I hope Drama’s animated series does well with or without Andrew Dice Clay. Eric’s relationship woes are getting pretty annoying. Ari’s storyline is very fun to watch even though he’s going through hard times again.
SERIES: Weeds (Season 7)
WHERE: Monday, 10pm (Showtime) – need to download
EPISODES: 9 in (4 to go)
GENERAL PLOT: Nancy is a mother who sells weed to support her family but dangerous and silly stuff keep happening to her. It’s like Breaking Bad but a half-hour comedy instead.
CURRENT SEASON: Nancy is out of jail and in New York trying to start her ‘business’ over.
MY THOUGHTS: A lot of promising storylines but they don’t seem to end up anywhere. Things get resolved to quickly or dropped. This show needs more focus if it wants to move on.
SERIES: Damages (Season 4)
WHERE: Wednesday, 10pm (Direct 101) – need to download
EPISODES: 7 in (3 to go)
GENERAL PLOT: Patty is a ruthless lawyer. Ellen is a protégé that Patty tried to kill. They work together to bring down corporations. But not in a fun way, more of a dark twisted way.
CURRENT SEASON: Patty & Ellen go against a military faction doing illegal assignments.
MY THOUGHTS: Not digging the torture scenes. I’m loving John Goodman and Dylan Baker this season. I’m waiting for Patty’s true evil side to come out. I find it interesting with all the added language and nudity this season.
SERIES: Louie (Season 1 & 2)
WHERE: Thursday, 10:30pm (FX) – need to download
EPISODES: 11 in (2 to go)
GENERAL PLOT: Louie CK is a comedian who goes through his average pathetic life.
CURRENT SEASON: Same as the first only more emphasis on making friends.
MY THOUGHTS: Watched all of season one and caught up on season two. (Hate the theme song!) Louis CK is very funny and some of his stand-up and conversations are priceless. It’s an interesting format and it works beautifully. I think there is a little too much sexual talk on the show though. A little heavy handed on the masturbation. (pun intended)
SERIES: Wilfred (Season 1)
WHERE: Thursday, 10pm (FX) – need to download
EPISODES: 11 in (2 to go)
GENERAL PLOT: Only Ryan can see his neighbour’s dog as a man in a dog suit who smokes pot and speaks to him.
CURRENT SEASON: Wilfred the dog ‘helps’ Ryan through his conflicted emotions after an attempted suicide.
MY THOUGHTS: This is based on an Australian show of the same name and the creator reprises his role as the ‘lovable’ mutt. His interactions with Ryan are quite fun. He has many human qualities but is still very much a dog, like attacking a vacuum cleaner. Elijah Wood is also very good as the confused Ryan. Way to go Frodo.
