Emmy Wrap-Up 2025

Nate Bargatze got things rolling in a big way for the 77th Emmy Awards. In an homage to his most famous SNL sketch, Bargatze played TV inventor Fransworth predicting what TV would be like in the future, much in the same vein as his George Washington’s dream masterpiece. Lots of laughs throughout. Mikey Day is one of the writers of this sketch. Kudos.

Nate’s idea to start deducting donation money from the Boys & Girls Club if award winners go over their allotted 45 seconds was genius. Not only did some go quick, but it also gave Nate plenty to talk about in between presenters. At the end of night, way in the hole, they of course, still gave a lot of money to the club. Big winners like Adolescence’s Owen Cooper, or Stephen Colbert or Lorne Michaels were not going to give up their chance to say something. I also enjoyed Tramell Tillman and Cristin Milioti’s speeches. Also, luckily The Studio was able to thank the executives and the end which was one of their episode plots.

When it came to presenters, Ray Romano and Brad Garrett had some great banter about life after Emmy wins. Ike Barinholtz and Kathryn Hahn may have lost awards but they were entertaining with their fumbling without a teleprompter. Someone needs to stop Jennifer Coolidge. Is she doing a stand-up routine? She went way too long and its all about her. Pass.

I loved that power-couple Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen shared the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award. They are so classy and well spoken. Also, liked that Michael Shur joined for the intro.

The set was bizarre with its Emmys hanging like Christmas ornaments. Also bizarre was Chrisopher Meloni’s acid wash tuxedo. It just looks dirty. Like he was rolling around in the gutters out back. Awful choice.

The only win that confused me Jeff Hiller winning for Somebody Somewhere. Never heard of it. I wanted Ike to win this one or Harrison Ford. All other awards that I didn’t predict I was quite happy with the outcome. Love the Slow Horses win and The Pitt winning best drama. I was shocked but thrilled that Andor managed to win best writing for a drama series. Wow.
