2019 Fall Movie Preview

It’s been quite the summer drought for films. Luckily, some good stuff is coming up. Here are a few films that are piquing my interest. Of course, Rotten Tomatoes and other factors may dissuade me from certain films.  We’ll have to see what happens.

1. THE REPORT (Sep 12)

What: Adam Driver uncovers post 9/11 interrogation tactics

Why: Though released through Amazon, looks interesting

2. JOKER (Oct 4)

What: An origin story of the iconic Batman villain

Why: Joaquin Phoenix plays him dark and gritty

3. THE CURRENT WAR (Oct 11)

What: The race between Edison and Westinghouse

Why: Cumberbatch & Tom Holland in a compelling story

4. GEMINI MAN (Oct 11)

What: An old hitman goes against a younger clone of himself

Why: Double the Will Smith and directed by Ang Lee (Life of Pi)

5. ZOMBIELAND 2: DOUBLE TAP (Oct 18)

What: The four survivors move and take on evolved zombies

Why: Glad their back for more fun mayhem

6. MOTHERLESS BROOKLYN (Nov 1)

What: Detective with Tourette’s tries to solve his mentor’s murder

Why: Edward Norton directs himself in a fascinating role

7. TERMINATOR: DARK FATE (Nov 1)

What: Sarah Connor and a new cyborg tries to protect a young girl

Why: James Cameron wrote it and produces. It’s action-packed.

8. FORD V FERRARI (Nov 15)

What: A designer and racer try to build a race car to beat Ferrari

Why: It’s Christian Bale and Matt Damon.

9. A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD (Nov 22)

What: Friendship between Fred Rogers and a journalist

Why: It’s Tom Hanks.

10. KNIVES OUT (Nov 27)

What: Daniel Craig tries to solve an eccentric patriarch's murder

Why: I like Rian Johnson (Brick) and his films

11. THE IRISHMAN (TBA)

What: Mob hitman recalls his work with Jimmy Hoffa

Why: De Niro, Pacino, Peci, Scorsese. Wow.

12. STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER (Dec 20)

What: JJ Abrams directs the final chapter of the Skywalker saga

Why: It’s Star Wars.
