2011 Preview: Television

Here is a list of when some shows are returning to the television schedule. I’ve also included some new series that are debuting in early 2011 as well.
How I Met Your Mother
(Jan 3)
Hawaii 5-0
(Jan 3)
Parenthood
(Jan 4)
Modern Family
(Jan 5)
Human Target
(Jan 5)
Friday Night Lights
(Jan 5)
The Big Bang Theory
(Jan 6)
Simpsons
(Jan 9)
Family Guy
(Jan 9)
The Cape
(Jan 9) on NBC
A former cop takes on the persona of his son’s favourite superhero and fights crime in the city along with a group of former carnies. Hopefully these people have learned something from Heroes.

Episodes
(Jan 9) on Showtime
Matt LeBlanc plays himself in a single-camera comedy that focuses on the process of reworking a hit British show for American audiences. As long as it’s better than Joey, it should be fine.

House
(Jan 17)
Chuck
(Jan 17)
Community
(Jan 20)
30 Rock
(Jan 20)
The Office
(Jan 20)
Parks & Recreation
(Jan 20)
Outsourced
(Jan 20)
Fringe
(Jan 21)
Smallville
(Jan 28)
Mr. Sunshine
(Feb 9) on ABC
Matthew Perry is a self-involved manager of a sports arena and begins to re-evaluate his life on his 40th birthday. Also stars Allison Janney. It has a great cast so I’m hoping they don’t let me down.

Amazing Race
(Feb 20)
The Event
(Feb 28)
The Killing
(March 2011) on AMC
A crime drama project that follows three different subplots all linked to a single murder in Seattle. Since it’s from AMC, I’m trusting that it will tell a great story. They haven’t really failed me yet.

Chaos
(Apr 1) on CBS
Rogue CIA operatives combat bureaucratic gridlock, rampant incompetence and political infighting. It has a great cast. I hope it doesn’t end up like The Unusuals a couple years ago.

Breaking In
(April 6) on FOX
Christian Slater is a leader of group of geniuses in their twenties to crack computer security systems. I like a good heist film, hopefully this television series will have them breaking into things a lot.

Game of Thrones
(April 2011) on HBO
A big budget drama that is adapted from George R.R. Martin’s epic fantasy novel series. Its looks Lord of the Rings-ish. It even has Sean Bean from Fellowship of the Rings in it. We’ll see.

Curb Your Enthusiasm
(Spring 2011)
Damages
(Summer 2011)
Entourage
(Summer 2011)
Breaking Bad
(Summer 2011)
How to Make It in America
(Summer 2011)
